christmas in santa rosa de copan
the holiday season sneaks up in honduras, at least it did for me. i always anticipate a white christmas and spend the holiday build-up with my family. this year was completely different. the weather was warm, my family absent and everything in spanish. i spent the week before christmas celebrating with my co-workers and rotary members and then headed out of copan. everyone who didn't return to the states for the holidays and was in the area gathered in santa rosa de copan at katp's house for tons (literally) of cookies, delicious food and loads of fireworks. after christmas, many people headed up to the bay islands to ring in the new year.
